What a great start at SXSW 2014! We couldn’t be more thrilled to be the official graphic recorders of this year’s SXSW Interactive conference. This event offers such an incredible variety of speakers, each with their own intriguing points of view, we are so excited to visualize their talks and make them available to all of you! We will recap each day here, on our blog, and include all of the images from the talks we are at.
From Gary Vanderchuk telling us “How to Rock SXSW”, to the keynote from Austin Kleon, “the writer who draws”, day 1 was full of invaluable advice from some incredibly inspiring people.
Gary Vanderchuk reminds us of the importance of a one to one interaction in the chaos of SXSW, and to not underestimate the value of re-connecting with old friends from past conferences and re-investing in those relationships.
Keynote speaker Austin Kleon was particularly inspiring to us as artists as he talk through his guide to sharing your creativity and getting discovered. The writer and artist dispelled the lone genius myth, explaining that the best way to be noticed is to be apart of the “scenius,” an ecology of talent where the whole scene continually contributes and inspires each other’s art.
Our day ended with a lively panel discussion between Ze Frank of Buzzfeed, Bravo’s Andy Cohen, and YouTube stars Grace Helbig and Tyler Oakley. The 4 panelists discussed Fandom in the Digital Age, fielding questions from their fans about everything from what will be the next big social media platform, to what is the one celebrity twitter account they cannot live without.
And this was only day 1! Check back tomorrow for the day 2 recap and images, we hope that you are as excited as we are!
